Reiki

History of ReikiUsui reiki is an alternative form of healing developed nearly 100 years ago in Japan by Mikao Usui. The word reiki is derived from two Japanese words: rei and ki. Rei means "higher power" or "spiritual power." Ki means "energy." Put together, reiki can be loosely translated as "spiritual life force energy." What to Expect?Prior to the treatment I will check in with you and talk through what you wish to work through and focus on. At this stage what you are comfortable sharing can be as general or specific as you require. A typical reiki session lasts 60 to 90 minutes, and clients are treated either lying down on a massage table. Unlike massage, people can remain fully clothed during the reiki session, and light physical contact is varied with non-contact, hands over healing, is applied just inside the body’s energy field. Practitioners typically begin working either at a client's head or feet, moving slowly along the body as they manipulate a person's ki. How Does it Work? Ki is that energy that where when we thought we had nothing left something rises within us elevating us to a new level of being. The aim is to draw on this quality of energy to recognise, acknowledge and move beyond any current blocks that are causing disharmony in the body and mind. We have all had experiences where in life we have been overwhelmed by outside forces or have chosen challenges that have required us to draw on resources from deep within ourselves. Think of your most surprising uplifting moments in your life so far. Often whilst being highly energized these moments come with clarity and a calmness of mind. Those moments where we have or wish to overcome adversity, illness, injury, grief or hopelessness start with an intention to create awareness of the energy blockage, an acknowledgment and acceptance and then the will to raise the internal resources to shift our consciousness to a place of healing.
